The rivalry between Nigeria’s two most famous musicians, Davido and WizKid, may have taken a new turn, as Wizkid’s Made in Lagos recently broke Davido’s record.
With his second studio album, “A Good Time,” which was both critically and commercially successful, Davido has held the record for the third longest charting album on the Billboard World Albums charts since sometime in 2019.
Previously, Burna Boy’s Grammy-nominated “African Giant” and Fela Kuti’s classic “A Good Time” were the only songs to spend 25 weeks on the Billboard charts.
Wizkid’s “Made in Lagos” has now broken that record, spending a whopping 26 weeks on the charts.
It’s also the only album from the year 2020 to chart for that long. Davido’s single “A Better Time” was only on the charts for a week.
Wizkid’s classic fourth studio album, “Made in Lagos,” will now attempt to beat Burna Boy’s record by remaining on the charts for at least 11 weeks longer.
After that, it’s possible it’ll break the record for the longest-charting African album of all time.
Whatever the case might be, one thing is certain: WizKid is ahead of Davido on the international stage.
Is Wizkid bigger than Davido in Record achievement right now?
